Divabetic Raises Awareness for Breast Cancer Survivors Living With Diabetes for October with Nicki Minaj
New research suggest that certain behaviors might increase the risk of both types of diseases, including smoking, being sedentary and not eating well, and that those would explain the link. It’s also possible that changes in insulin and blood sugar levels that come with diabetes make it easier for breast tumors to grow.
“The stories of courage and strength we’ve heard from members of the Divabetic community who are cancer survivors as well as these new research findings are why were proud to go pink for October,” say Mr. Divabetic. “Nicki Minaj’s colorful personae embodies the uplifting way we plan to address this important health topic on our podcast. With fun, flash and first-class education.”

Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer, songwriter, and voice actress. She rose to prominence when she released her debut album , PInk Friday, in 2010, peaking at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified Platinum by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release. She’s the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Her seventh single,“Super Bass” has since been certified quadruple-platinum by the RIAA, and has sold more than four million copies, becoming one of the best-selling singles in the United States.
Nicki — whose dad drank heavily and took drugs and once tried to kill her mother by setting their house on fire -- explains: “When I was younger I didn’t have much financially, like we couldn’t afford a lot of stuff and I remember seeing little girls’ rooms on TV and they’d all be pink.
“I didn’t have my own room, I shared with my brother, so I would have this daydream and imagine that one day I could have my own room and it would all be pink, like Cinderella’s.
“So I guess pink takes me back to that time and it just feels euphoric when I wear it. I love it.”
