OEA to Host 'Race To Nowhere' Screenings

The Oklahoma Education Association will host three screenings of “Race To Nowhere,” an important documentary that looks at the pressure heaped on students and teachers by high-stakes tests. A panel discussion will be held in addition to the screenings set for Feb. 28 – one at Moore Norman Technology Center in Norman and two at Circle Cinema in Tulsa.  Seating is limited, so pre-registration is required.

OEA Launches Re-Branding Campaign

SDE Approves $18 Million for TRS Credit

The State Board of Education took a step for teachers recently when it voted 4-3 to approve sending $18 million to the Oklahoma Teachers’  Retirement System to cover half of the retirement offset.

North Tulsa to Hold Second Community Conversation

Closing the Achievement gap in North Tulsa schools is the focus of the Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association and the OEA’s latest Community Conversation. North Tulsa’s elementary schools, Gilcrease Middle School and McLain High School will convene a series of conversations between parents, community members and school personnel thanks to a grant from NEA.
