Up at the O2 - 90 Minute Exhilarating Outdoor Challenge

During the O2’s 5th anniversary this year, instead of celebrating with a big birthday bash with overflowing cocktail and sumptuous meals, they thought of something better and more exciting by providing a new attraction for visitors and tourists – a skywalk over the top of the building that officially opened last June.

More Information

The O2 is one of the world’s most popular music and entertainment venues that’s owned and operated by AEG in partnership with O2, the communications company. Basically, Up at the O2 is a site that wants to show the O2’s commitment in developing and diversifying the iconic venue. Since the O2 gets a lot of visits in the evening, Up at the O2 is hoping that it will attract more visitors during the day.

With its recent public opening, it is not surprising that Up at the O2 received many visitors who wanted to try the exhilarating 90-minute outdoor challenge. Aside from seeing a 360-degree panoramic view of many London landmarks like the Olympic Park, Thames Barrier, and The Shard, Up at the O2 activities definitely excites anyone who’s up for some adventure with its uplifting guided expedition over the roof of the building through a fabric walkway. Things get more fun and enjoyable when you get to reach the steepest point of the walkway which has a 28-degree incline on the way up and 30-degree incline on the way down.

One of the many first visitors is a 75-year old woman who courageously walked the 190 meter long fabric (52 meters above ground level) skywalk. Another one from London who was also one of the first people to climb at Up at the O2 says that the experience was like being on top of the trampoline.

However, there’s no need to worry about the safety of the walk. Once your tickets are sorted out, you go into the holding room where you have to sign a waiver, and watch a safety film to let you know about the dos and don’ts during the 90-minute climb. There are also blue climb suits with safety harness to make sure that you don’t fall off while walking. You are also encouraged to wear the stiff walking boots to prevent you from slipping especially if you have smooth-soled shoes. There are also 2 guides to help you climb while telling you interesting tidbits of the dome.

Up at the O2 holidayswill surely melt all your worries and stress away once you see the majestic view. Whether you’re a tourist on a London trip, or a local who just wants to forget and escape the busy city life, be sure to take the much coveted skywalk in London today. It’s such a wonderful experience that you shouldn’t dare miss.
