More Information

The Lakeland Builders Association (LBA) and Testudo, Wisconsin's leading lead training and lead testing provider, will offer a certification course for the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule on May 18 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.

Property managers, landlords, general contractors and remodeling contractors of all types—including plumbers, electricians, painters, window installers, and even wood floor refinishers—are required to carry this certification if disturbing lead-based coatings (including lead paint, stain, shellac, varnish, etc.) in any home or child-occupied building (school, daycare, etc.) built before 1978. This Lead Safe Renovator - Initial class will be instructed by Samantha Dickman, president of Testudo.

Space is limited for this class, and you may sign at http://register.testudoonline.com/register.php?y=2011&m=5&d=18&id=40. The cost is $225 for LBA members and $250 for non-members. If you are a member of the association, contact LBA's Ann Pienkos for a discount code to register online. Class spots are reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

This lead training class will be held at LBA headquarters at 1560 N. Country Club Parkway, Elkhorn, WI 53121. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All students who hold Wisconsin's Dwelling Contractor Qualifier license can receive eight hours of continuing education credits for attending the course. During this training, contractors and property managers will learn about all facets of the RRP rule, including why it was enacted and how they can successfully comply with the rule.

Samantha Dickman has thus far taught more than 1,000 of Wisconsin’s remodeling contractors about the RRP rule. Testudo holds Lead Safe Renovator training sessions throughout Wisconsin. By attaining this certification, you can help reduce lead poisoning.
