Non-Profit Architecture Firm Offers Quality Architectural Services to Global and Local Ministries

Architect John Hudson, who runs a thriving architecture practice in Homewood, AL, announces the formation of a non-profit architecture firm called 100 Fold Studio. The mission of 100 Fold Studio is to offer affordable & innovative architectural services to global ministries as well as form alliances with organizations in need of highly qualified architects.

The vision of 100 Fold Studio, a biblical reference to the Parable of the Seed—Mark 4:1-20, is to multiply the studio into a global network of licensed architects & intern architects that are readily available to serve in missions.

More Information

Focusing on long-term internships, 100 Fold Studio provides a unique opportunity for a young architect to work towards licensure while serving third-world communities. Interns from Auburn University's Urban Studio program are joining 100 Fold Studio this summer.

In June, Hudson and 100 Fold Studio will be relocating their offices to the campus of Youth with a Mission (YWAM), an interdenominational mission organization, in Lakeside, Montana. The move will allow 100 Fold Studio to immediately form strategic partnerships with YWAM's operations in over 150 countries.

Projects for 100 Fold Studio in 2010 include both global and Alabama ministries:

  • Vapor Sports Ministries - Togoville, Africa - Prototype Soccer Fields & Health Clinics serving 1000 youth/year. Vapor based in Fayetteville, AL.
  • Haiti/Dominican Republic - Pre-fabricated orphanages and community buildings. Working with several ministries from Alabama and nationally.
  • Habitat For Humanity - first USGBC LEED certified home in B'ham (Owners have occupied the house, LEED Certification in process).
  • YWAM Montana - Campus Master Plan, Cafeteria Addition & Staff Housing to serve 750 missionaries a year.
  • YWAM Nepal - Discipleship Training Center & Dorms to serve a church community of 10,000 Nepalese.

Core Facts

  1. 100 Fold Studio is supported by sliding scale architectural fees and your donations. Since most clients live in third world countries, many cannot afford design services

  2. 100 Fold Studio would provide a professional, salaried environment for licensure

  3. 100 Fold Studio will act as the Campus Architect for YWAM Montana and provide architectural services for other global ministries

  4. 100 Fold Studio is currently conducting a fundraising drive until mid-June with a fundraising goal of $120,000.00. These funds will cover operational costs, international travel and salaries

Quotes

"We greatly appreciated the professional drawing, helpful service, and cost effective work provided by the 100Fold team. John and his crew did a great job and the impact is being felt all the way in Africa."

Micah Mcelveen, President - Vapor Sports Ministries

"Interns come to 100 fold studio to learn the work we do here – not so that they will continue to do the work here – but so that they can go on to do the work where it is most needed.
The work is rewarding because it benefits the greatest need of the greatest numbers of people who have the least to offer in return."

Tyler Johnson, Hudson Architecture Intern

“The partnership with USGBC and Robins and Morton, resulting in Habitat Birmingham’s first LEED certified home, supported our goal of providing quality, affordable housing options within our community. The Sistrunk family will benefit for years to come through the reduction in utility expenses through the green building techniques utilized from modifications to the house plan to completion of the home.”

Charles Moore, President and CEO of Habitat Birmingham

“YWAM Montana invited Hudson arch. to our campus to help us make some final decisions on our campus plan. We had an instant connection with John, and Tyler as they came to our table with fresh ideas and a good solid belief in the mission we are after. They took input from our staff for consideration of our needs, our history, and to understand the DNA that makes our ministry individual. We are very pleased with the results, and look forward to a long relationship.“

David Garrigan, YWAM Montana

“A traditional architecture firm is limited to 3 pro bono projects. Through 100 Fold, we can design 30+ projects a year in third world communities. Your giving impact tens of thousands of lives. It’s an exponential investment.”
