The “Moving on with reading” campaign, carried out on all the OMV filling stations in Romania within the “OMV Move & Help” educational program, has come to a very successful end: approximately 28,000 postcards were sold within the two months duration of the campaign and the benefits derived from their sale cumulated over 96,700 lei (approximately 23,000 Euro). OMV would like to thank all its customers who were involved in this initiative and bought the “OMV Move & Help” postcards.
Under the slogan ”Moving on with reading”, OMV and the Romanian Association for Children with Dyslexia carried out between April and June this year the first social program in Romania aiming to inform and raise funds for dyslexia. Within the program, OMV invited customers and the Romanian public to purchase the “OMV Move & Help” postcards sold on all OMV filling stations during the “Moving on with reading” campaign, in order to support equal access to education for children affected by this learning disorder.
The benefits from the sale of the postcards, totaling over 96,700 lei, are aimed to support the Romanian Association for Children with Dyslexia, in order to create awareness of the appropriate methods for the identification and specific teaching of the dyslexic child, as well as to provide guidance for the teachers and families of dyslexic children in Romania.
OMV Move & Help – Moving on with reading
Within the “OMV Move & Help – Moving on with reading” program launched in April, 2010, OMV and the Romanian Association for Children with Dyslexia launched www.dislexic.ro, the first portal in Romania including useful information, approved by dyslexia specialists. At the same time, with the support of OMV the specialized guidebook “Eu citesc mai bine!”(“I read better!”) was republished. The guidebook was written by a group of authors from Targu Mures, who are members of the Romanian Association for Children with Dyslexia. Both the portal and the specialized guidebook are intended to support parents, teachers, and specialists who want to be informed about dyslexia and are an important source of initiation in the treatment of this learning disorder.
OMV’s international education program already heading into its seventh year
The international Move & Help program was established in 2004 as an initiative of OMV, the leading energy group in the European growth belt, and supports educational programs in the countries in which the group is present. The program will be continued and further developed, focusing on issues such as the reduction of functional illiteracy and severe text blindness. In Romania, “Move & Help“ is addressing the issue of dyslexia in 2010.

We would like to thank all of our customers who joined us within the OMV Move & Help – Moving on with reading campaign. Together with our customers we accomplished the first step in helping dyslexic children in Romania by supporting the Romanian Association for Children with Dyslexia. With the raised funds, the Association will be able to continue carrying out important projects for the dyslexic community. These projects include: editing specialized guidebooks and manuals for dyslexic children, organizing trainings for teachers, and providing information regarding dyslexia.
