SeaPort Airlines plans to operate flights from Yakima and Wenatchee to Portland beginning March 1st. Tickets will go on sale after January 1, 2012.
(December 29, 2011) – SeaPort Airlines today announced that it will launch new service between Yakima (Yakima Air Terminal) and Wenatchee (Pangborn Memorial Airport) in Washington and Portland, Oregon beginning March 1, 2012.
The new service will include three daily nonstop roundtrip flights between Yakima to Portland Monday through Friday, one nonstop flight from Yakima to Portland on Saturday, and one return nonstop flight from Portland to Yakima on Sunday. All flights from Portland to Yakima will continue to Wenatchee after a brief stop. The same pattern will be operated on return flights.
As illustrated below, the flight schedule will allow travelers from Wenatchee and Yakima to complete a full day of business in Portland and return home the same evening, eliminating the expense of a hotel overnight and time away from family and the office. Portland travelers will be afforded the same opportunity to conduct same-day trips to Yakima and Wenatchee.
Additionally, golfers in Wenatchee and Yakima will be able to connect in Portland with SeaPort’s recently announced new service to Southwest Oregon Regional Airport that begins on January 15, 2012 and provides easy access to Bandon Dunes Golf Resort which includes Old Macdonald, rated the best golf course in America by Golfweek.
“We’re pleased to be adding the Yakima and Wenatchee valleys to SeaPort’s growing route map,” said Rob McKinney, President of SeaPort Airlines. “These two new markets reflect our continued focus on connecting mid-size communities with major metropolitan areas, where customers can conduct local business or connect to destinations through the country and around the world.”
Bill Wheeler, the chairman of the Yakima Air Terminal Airport Board, believes this is great news coming at the beginning of a brand new year. “The YAT Airport Board and airport management have been working diligently toward enhancing the commercial air service into our airport. This new service to a totally new destination is exactly what we need to keep us moving forward. We could not be happier that SeaPort has made this decision, and we’re looking forward to working with SeaPort to bring the best possible air service to the city and county.”
Port of Chelan Commissioner Craig Larsen added, “We’re pleased by SeaPort Airlines’ announcement and look forward to welcoming them to the Pangborn Memorial Airport. Portland is one of our most frequently requested routes and these flights will add significant new options for our travelers. As we move forward, I’m confident the local community will step up and use this service. We look forward to a long relationship with SeaPort.”
To kick-off the new service, SeaPort is offering an introductory fare of $69* each way between both cities and Portland. The introductory fare will be available for purchase until February 29, 2012 for travel through March 31, 2012. Seats are limited and other restrictions may apply. See www.SeaPortAirlines.com for details. Additionally, through March 31 all members of SeaPort’s FlyerFlex™ loyalty program will earn double credit on all flights to and from Yakima and Wenatchee. Following the introductory period, fares between Portland and Yakima will range from $89* to $169* and fares between Portland and Wenatchee will range from $89* to $179*.
Flights will be available for purchase on January 1, 2012 at www.SeaPortAirlines.com, in all major GDSs, and online travel sites.
Customers traveling to and from Portland will enjoy the convenience of SeaPort’s private terminal at Portland International Airport that offers comfortable seating, complimentary coffee, tea, hot cider, and world-famous Voodoo Doughnuts that are all removed from the crowds and long-lines of the main terminal. Complimentary shuttle service is provided between SeaPort’s terminal and the main airline terminal for those customers connecting with other flights or wishing to use light rail service to and from downtown Portland.
To celebrate the new service, SeaPort will be launching contests via select social media channels with chances to win free round trip tickets on the new service.
