The Old Rectory, Chulmleigh
Originally built in 1800, The Old Rectory suffered at the hands of a fire and had to have parts re-built in 1850. The owners of The Old Rectory have since turned this old vicarage into a secret gem hidden away between Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks. Since The Old Rectory was bought in 1994, the owners have added courtyard accommodation, a dance barn with entertainments room, a gym, salt water swimming pool and a tennis court along with other extras. The property does boast several of its original features, including a Grade II listed Victorian grotto nestled within the walls and limestone balustrades along the outdoor staircases.
The Old Rectory is an unusual and beautiful location for weddings, family holidays or with a gathering of friends, and is perfect for corporate functions or wellness retreats. The bedrooms are individually decorated with a King, Queen or double bed. The property sleeps up to 24 guests. The gardens feature a luxurious salt water swimming pool tucked away in a secluded area of the grounds.
The house has a civil ceremony license allowing couples to marry. There are four locations within the house and grounds that have a license, which include: the original stair case within the house, the main south facing drawing rooms, the dance barn, and the Victorian grotto in the garden.
