The 2011 Central West End (CWE) Window Walk kicks off its official two-week store-front window competition with a family fun-filled event Saturday, December 3, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. featuring Santa, a live ice sculptor demonstration, carolers, a petting zoo, trolley car, and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
November 18, 2011 (St. Louis) – The 2011 Central West End (CWE) Window Walk kicks off its official two-week store-front window competition with a family fun-filled event Saturday, December 3, from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. featuring Santa, a live ice sculptor demonstration, carolers, a petting zoo, trolley car, and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
The 2011 CWE Window Walk celebrates the holiday season, encouraging area residents and visitors to visit the CWE’s boutique shops, fine dining and entertainment while showcasing the uniqueness of the historic CWE commercial business district. The Central West End North Community Improvement District is the organizer for the event.
The competition portion of the Window Walk, which runs from December 3-17, is a contest among CWE storefront business owners, retailers, restaurants and entertainment venues showcasing windows decorated for the holidays.
Area residents and visitors are encouraged to cast their votes by completing paper ballots and placing them in ballot boxes at participating businesses or by scanning Quick Response (QR) codes using a smart phone. The QR codes are available on posters in store windows and on ballot boxes at participating merchants.
All voters are eligible to win a $50.00 gift certificate good at select CWE merchants. A total of 10, $50 gift certificates will be awarded to randomly selected Window Walk voters. Gift certificate recipients will be notified after the December 17 finale.
Five “People’s Choice” Awards will be given to the public’s favorite displays. A panel of Celebrity Judges, who are well known local personalities, will select first-, second- and third-place winners.
