Spanning almost the entire month of June (June 3-24), festival activities include an Emerging Artist Program, free open rehearsals, various concerts both operatic and broadway style, free master classes with renown opera stars and of course a fully staged, costumed opera production accompanied by the Green Mountain Opera Orchestra and Chorus. Core Facts

  1. GMOF celebrates its seventh season with a production of Puccini’s most beloved opera, La Bohème. The tragic love story set in bohemian Paris of the 1850s will feature international soprano Mary Dunleavy as the silk flower maker Mimì, and tenor Richard Troxell (Don José, Carmen 2011) as the poet Rodolfo.

  2. Richard Troxell's beautiful lyric tenor voice has been thrilling audiences wherever he has sung on stages around the world and in the United States. His vocal artistry and powerful stage presence have set him apart from the others, and his ability to connect with an audience earns "bravos" and standing ovations wherever he appears. Personable, charming and very approachable, Troxell is always a crowd favorite.

  3. Soprano Mary Dunleavy continues to receive critical and popular acclaim for her performances with many of the world's leading opera houses and orchestras. Her gallery of operatic heroines is led by her signature role, Violetta in La Traviata, seen thus far in over 65 performances in venues throughout the world.

Quotes

"Mr. Troxell lent conviction and dignity to this role with his clear, steady voice, creating, even in these excerpts a considerable amount of sympathy for his character."

Washington Times

"Dunleavy's honeyed voice resembles that of Renee Fleming. Her girlish qualities are stronger than they seem (as was probably also true of Pauline Strauss, for whom her husband wrote so many of his loveliest songs), and she has no problem riding the full blast of a lush orchestra."
