UVM LANE SERIES & GREEN MOUNTAIN OPERA FESTIVAL PRESENT "OPERA EXTRAVAGANZA: A GALA PERFORMANCE"

Seventeen world-class singers will perform arias, duets, and ensembles large and small from several great operas, including La Bohème, Don Pasquale, La Traviata, Pearl Fishers, and other jewels of the operatic repertoire. Featured artists include world-renowned stars Richard Troxell and Mary Dunleavy.  This is a rare opportunity to hear these extraordinary operatic voices live in an intimate setting.  Audience members will be able to meet and mingle with these famous singers following the performance at an elegant champagne and dessert reception. 

The Green Mountain Opera Festival, now in its 7th year, is a festival based in the Mad River Valley (Central Vermont). It has built a reputation as one of New England's premier opera producers, with audience members coming from Montreal, Boston, New Hampshire, and throughout Vermont. The festival presents professional opera productions at the historic Barre Opera House and several performances at other venues in the Mad River Valley. The organization's mission is to enrich the cultural scene of Vermont by consistently presenting high quality professional opera productions and concerts. Spanning almost the entire month of June (June 3-24), festival activities include an Emerging Artist Program, free open rehearsals, various concerts both operatic and broadway style, free master classes with renown opera stars and of course a fully staged, costumed opera production accompanied by the Green Mountain Opera Orchestra and Chorus. The UVM Lane Series is a presenting arts organization based at the University of Vermont.  Presenting approximately 25 concerts from September through May, the Lane Series features a diverse roster of performers from the classical, vocal, film, theatre, jazz, folk, and traditional music fields. Each year brings a variety of artists — from established international favorites to promising new talent. Established in 1955 with a generous gift from the Lane family, the Series enjoys an international reputation as a presenter of chamber and classical music. The organization's mission is to enrich the cultural life of the University of Vermont and the wider community by sponsoring performances of the highest merit by nationally and internationally known artists in the world of music, performance, and theatre; by integrating artistic performances into the educational programs of the University and the community; and by building audiences of all ages for its varied programs, thus enhancing the effectiveness of a major University and community cultural resource.
