The UVM Lane Series is pleased to announce its 2012/2013 season, with diverse offerings for all live performance-lovers, from classical piano and chamber music, to theater, to jazz, folk, and traditional music. The Lane Series continues its tradition of bringing to Burlington some of the finest performers in the world, who will present an exciting variety of both tradition and innovation across all genres.
This year’s artists include the Pacifica Quartet, ATOS Trio, cellist Zoë Keating, pianist Alexander Schimpf, the David Wax Museum, jazz musician Luciana Souza, Hot Club of San Francisco, folk musician Chris Smither, Atlantic Brass, the male vocal ensemble Cantus, and many more. The Lane Series is also co-presenting with the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts three performances: Aquila Theatre’s Taming of the Shrew in September, a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration with Solas in March, and Lila Downs in April.
Subscriptions are now available for purchase through the Lane Series office or over the secure website, www.uvm.edu/laneseries. The UVM Lane Series mission is to enrich the cultural life of the University of Vermont and the wider community by sponsoring performances of the highest merit by nationally and internationally known artists in the world of music, performance, and theatre; by integrating artistic performances into the educational programs of the University and the community; and by building audiences of all ages for its varied programs.
The UVM Lane Series was established in 1955 by a generous gift from the Lane family in memory of George Bishop Lane.
The UVM Lane Series offers many pre-concert talks, student outreach performances, and other educational activities throughout the year to meet its educational goals.
