Cougar Scares Off

Premiere security company, Cougar Monitoring, has foiled a burglary at a warehouse in Glasgow by someone the staff there have nicknamed The Scottish Ninja after a character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.

Core Facts

  1. The would-be burglar, dressed in black and crawling through the shadows of the warehouse on all fours, was caught on CCTV and spotted by eagle-eyed staff in Cougar Monitoring's control room. He fled when the monitoring team tannoyed to tell him the good news that he was being watched and filmed on CCTV. The police and the key holder were called immediately, but by the time they arrived "The Scottish Ninja" had disappeared. The video can be viewed at http://bit.ly/df5ptm.

  2. Established in 1996 by two senior ex-police officers, Cougar Monitoring, based in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, has grown into a premier supplier of security solutions with over 8,000 customers in the UK. It provides a "one stop shop" for security and in addition to manned guarding provides state-of-the-art monitored CCTV equipment, key holding, emergency response, and mobile patrols. More information on the company can be found at its web site at www.cougarmonitoring.com.

  3. Notes To Editors: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or simply Ninja Turtles, and previously known in the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Ireland and Scandinavia as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles) are a fictional team of four mutant turtles, who were trained by an anthropomorphic, talking rat sensei in the art of Ninjitsu. The characters initially appeared in comic books before being licensed for toys, cartoons, video games, films, and other merchandise. During the peak of its popularity in the late 1980s through early 1990s, the franchise gained considerable worldwide success and fame.

Quotes

"If you watch the CCTV footage you can appreciate just how vigilant our staff have to be. The intruder, who we nicknamed “The Scottish Ninja” on account of being on all fours and dressed in black like a commando, is barely visible at first as he crawls through the shadows. This is just one of three burglary’s we prevent across the UK each week by spotting an intruder and warning them off over the tannoy system.”

Simon Jennings, Control Room Manager at Cougar Monitoring
