Help SMASH the record for the World's Biggest Pub Quiz!

On 25 March 2010 the Family Holiday Association will be attempting to SMASH the record for the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz! Thousands of people around the UK will be taking part. Get your local pub or venue involved and help make this the LIVE event of the year! It’s a great opportunity to raise loads of cash to help the UK charity Family Holiday Association give severely disadvantaged children a much-needed family break.

Core Facts

  1. Taking part is simple as all marketing materials will be provided free-of-charge. The marketing pack supplied will include posters, balloons and a press release template.

  2. The International Quizzing Association is setting the questions, which will be available for quiz organisers to use at their events.

  3. Quiz organisers who raise more than £100 will have the chance to enter a draw to win a luxury cruise thanks to Norwegian Cruise Line. (See for Ts&Cs)

  4. The event is being held to raise awareness and funds for the Family Holiday Association, a UK charity working to give disadvantaged children a much-needed family break, usually in a caravan by the British seaside.

  5. To promote the event the website has been set up where quiz organisers can register their venue. Each venue has a customisable page on the website.

The All Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group is proud to support the World’s Biggest Pub Quiz and help raise funds for the Family Holiday Association. We'll be hosting a quiz and I hope it will be one of many held around the UK serving as a reminder of the vital role pubs play in their communities.

Greg Mulholland MP, Chair of the Save the Pub All Party Parliamentary Group

The families we work with are all coping with difficult circumstances, such as bereavement, family break-up, domestic violence, and chronic illness - and the majority of children we work with have never been to the seaside before!

The World’s Biggest Pub Quiz will demonstrate how communities can band together to break a world record, have a great night and raise funds for a very worthy cause.

Jacqulyn Bell, Family Holiday Association Event Co-ordinator

Company information

For over 30 years, the Family Holiday Association has been working to provide short breaks for the most needy families in our community. The charity helps families in desperate circumstances: those dealing with bereavement, poverty, chronic illness, inadequate housing, or domestic violence.

Typically, a family granted a break spends a week staying in a caravan in a UK seaside town. We have found that these simple holidays can have a positive effect on mental health, help strengthen relationships within the family and give family members a fresh perspective, providing them with the motivation to make positive changes to their lives.

The Family Holiday Association is registered charity no. 800262.
