A principle role in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar has gone for auction on Ebay.
Wyspas (formerly High Wycombe Musical Entertainments Society), are offering the role of Herod in their multi-thousand Pound production to the highest bidder on each performance night in order to raise money for the Amateur Theatre Company.
The winners will be backed by a professional band and troupe of female dancers in the production at the Arts4Every1 Centre, Desborough Road, a converted church with dramatic stone columns and a soaring vaulted ceiling.
The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, and in this exciting and innovative promenade production the audience can choose whether to remain in their seats, or to mingle with the cast as the action takes place all around the Grade II listed Church.

Our production will be very different from anything the audience will have ever seen. The audience and the cast are mixed together. There is some seating so people can sit down if they want to, but the idea is to encourage the audience to walk around with the cast to get involved with the action and to actually be a part of it. It will be a completely immersive and interactive experience.

For the part of Herod we wanted to try something different. We wanted to use that opportunity to involve different people in our production - so we're selling the parts on Ebay!
Each performance date is listed individually on the auction site, so that people who are fans of Jesus Christ Superstar, will have the opportunity to actually do the part.
We're just looking for someone who is enthusiastic, humorous and can just get into the sprit of the show.
