Broken Rainbow UK, the UK-wide domestic violence helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people is launching a new helpline service to support trans people.
This Valentine’s Day (14 February 2012), Broken Rainbow UK is proud to announce a date to remember with the launch of its new helpline support for trans people across the UK. Hosted by Bar Wotever, the free weekly showcase for queer art and culture in London, the launch event will take place at the RVT in Vauxhall from 6pm until midnight. It will feature celebrities, DJs and performers – such as the brilliant wordsmith Dean Atta and hot new stand-up comedian Yoshki Greenberg – as well as many trans organisations who are supporting the launch.
Broken Rainbow UK is the only UK-wide charity working with lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and trans (LGBT) people experiencing domestic violence. Trans people can now call and speak to a trans helpline worker on Tuesdays 1-5pm and all helpline staff are having trans awareness training. The new service is also being widely advertised to LGBT people across the UK.
If you are experiencing violence or are worried that someone you care about is then call Broken Rainbow on 0300 999 5428, email help@brokenrainbow.org.uk and check out our web site www.brokenrainbow.org.uk

Notes on Bar Wotever and performers
With songs, stand-up comedy, film screenings, dances and spoken word pieces, Bar Wotever at Royal Vauxhall Tavern is one of the best places to see both emerging and established queer talent performing live. Soon to turn seven years old this free Tuesday night event pulls in a mixed crowd and has hosted new and world-class stars such as Rae Spoon, Aliens Ate My Schnitzel, Dorian Wood and Lazlo Pearlman.
