Wet Balls! Aspect Sports solves a common problem suffered by tennis players around the world.

Aspect Sports have solved a common problem for tennis players around the world.

Tennis balls often get wet during play outside. Everybody then places their wet tennis balls back in the tin after play and leave until their next game. Days or even weeks later, the balls are still wet, heavy and have lost their bounce. No good for your game and bad for your arm. The wet balls are thrown away and new tennis balls have to be purchased. An unnecessary waste of balls and money.

So perfectly good tennis balls ruined by a little water.

There had to be a way of preventing this wastage. A solution that would be good for the tennis player’s wallet, combining credit crunch appeal with green principles. The inconvenience of having to buy new balls every time they get damp or wet should be prevented.

Jason Saunders at Aspect Sports set about designing a solution using modern materials, to find a way of drying tennis balls quickly and easily after they get wet during play.  Eventually, after a lengthy design and development phase, the Tennis Ball Dryer was developed.  A clever three layered bag, the size of a four ball tin, with an integral cord pull handle.  A net measure and carry handle has also been added to the bag to offer further useful functionality to the tennis player.

The drying system works by placing the balls in the bag and closing the handle around the bag to pull the layers tightly around the balls’ surfaces.  Now the water is extracted from the ball fibres via the first layer, absorbed into the second layer and finally the water evaporates through the third ventilation layer. In as little as three hours, the tennis balls are dry again and ready for play.

Old fashioned solutions used by a few, of placing wet balls on radiators or in airing cupboards is actually bad for the tennis balls, as the ball rubber compound expands with the heat and they lose pressure quickly.  Not a good solution and an inconvenience after a tennis match.

Tennis Ball Dryer works quickly to remove any moisture from wet tennis balls. Bounce quality is therefore restored as if dry, giving the balls a longer life and saving tennis player’s money, while helping reduce carbon footprints by buying less tennis balls around the world.  There are 600 million tennis balls manufactured every year, so preventing unnecessary waste is also a positive statement made by eco conscious tennis players.
